Starting on the interior remodel of His Cottage

Well, Michael got in there and started pulling off the old paneling. Under it is beautiful ship-lap boards, They will look great painted all white. Very cottage.

There was wallpaper from the 40's behind it. It was back when they put it up with small nails and no glue. It had a fabric backing and pretty much fell apart. I was happy to see it go.

In two of the rooms, the kitchen and our bedroom, the paneling is staying. It it real wood, not printed pressboard, and in great shape. But you know, it will be white too. Michelle got in there too and is loving her role in the painting process.

His cottage

This is a view of the front from earlier this year. The AC unit in the front window is gone and so are the old chairs.

Why "His" cottage? Well, cause it is. It would not be possible if it were not for Him. God has had His hand on this every step of the way, there is no doubt. From being able to find it at the time we did, to being able to pay for it, it has all been because of Him.

Let me back up a little and tell you how this all came about. Like most good things, it all stated with prayer. We just didn't know what to do about our living situation. It was fine and all, but not what we wanted long term. We didn't think we had much choice. So we prayed about it......and prayed...and prayed. We looked at lots of places...too big, too much, too far, too old. I had come to the idea that this must be where God wants us to stay. I was really going to give up. I thought, "OK, I'll look one more time over here and then that's it. No more looking" Well there it was. I thought this is too good to be true. It ALL fell into place. And I mean ALL, really fast too. We are now proud owners of this cute little cottage. 1400 sq ft of little old house. I could not be happier.

A view of the back.

She sits on 1 acre of land, just big enough for us. We have been on 2 1/2 acres and it was getting to be too much to take care of.

We started moving in a few things today. This is the back porch.

Lots of trimming to do. That big ole bush is Gardenia. It is outside our bedroom window. I can't wait till spring to smell it in the room.

A really great country kitchen. We will be putting in a new counter top soon. I'm going to make Carrara Marble iCoat Top. Not positive of the back splash yet. The lights will be changed out too.

I will try to post everyday. We have lots of paneling to remove and then I will start painting tomorrow and Michael is going to work on the chicken coop. We have to have a safe place for the girls

Where have I been? What have I been up to?

This kitchen used to have blue Formica and honey oak cabinets. It's a little more updated now, wouldn't you say ?

There is so much to catch you up on, I hardly know where to start. We have been getting more and more kitchen remodels. They are keeping us very busy.

Can you say dreamy? I think a copper farmhouse sink IS just dreamy.
We just finished this kitchen and have already started another one. The next one will have and old sink with builtin drainboards. The sink is at the refinisher's shop right now. I'll post pics of it tomorrow.

THEN.......there is my latest obsession. Vintage travel trailers!! I have wanted one for a very long time, but have not been able to afford a good one. I wanted to fix one up, but not have to totally gut it and start over, UGH!
Well, I found her!

These pics are not of her.
Just nice shots of the interiors of a vintage trailers that give us inspiration. We want to go for the cottage look, of course.

This is her!
My daughter has already named her..."Primrose" She needs a lot of TLC, but is in very good condition considering her age. Everything inside is all original and still works. Everybody needs a makeover after 40. Don't you think? The current owners are using her for a storage shed right now, so she needs a lot of clean up. My daughter and I already have such plans for her.

So that is what I have been up to! Catch up with you later. Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

My "Day" job........

This is a before of a sauna tub we installed.

I have always used this blog to write about my biggest passion, "Shabby" things. But today I am letting you in on my other passion....changing things out to improve and update interiors. My husband and I have a remodeling business. We mainly do kitchens and baths, but we take on exterior projects too. I just love doing patios and sun rooms.

This is the "after" we did our thing.

This is a concrete overlay that I do. Looks great! This one went right over Formica!

Another "before" shot of a little bathroom remodel. Remember pink Formica, ugh!

And the "after".

We also added a frame to the old mirror. What a difference.

RED Formica and Honey Oak.
Help, I need a makeover!

What a difference! I not only madeover the counter, we also painted and glazed the cabinets. Really brought them up to date, don't you think? I also did a faux treatment on the walls. I love the grey the client chose.

Well this is my "day" job. The name of our company is "Just Faux You". Yeah, don't laugh, I thought of that all by myself.

New Chapter continues......

We started moving things into the booth at Sisters today. I have a lot a styling to do and a lot more small things to get in there.

Hubby helped me with all the heavy stuff. On what became, the hottest day of the year. We broke records for heat!! UGH!

The cutest little vintage rocker I bought, get this, at a garage sale, without ever leaving my house!! My good friend was having a sale and texted me some pics of goodies. Well that was all she needed to do. SOLD! I went and picked it up at her house a few days later. Put on a layer of pink, then glazed it for age and here she is.

I will also be caring some really cool, funky jewelry. You can never have too much funky bling. Thanks for stopping by. Hope y'all have a great week.

A new chapter in our life

My husband and I have decided to start a new chapter of our life. We will become, yet another vendor, in a mall. We are going to be carrying a variety of things, mostly funky junkie decor, including vintage finds and homemade things. We will also have repurposed finds and altered things as well as some really cool jewelry. We are going to be in a new mall......

You know how they say that God puts certain people in your life when you need them. God has been working exponentially in my life lately. First off, my sister and I decide to start building our business up, The Shabby Jammie Sisters. Then I find out about this new mall "Sisters" ! Then when I go meet the lady, she has the same last name as I do! I have already met some other terrific ladies that will be in there. This is going to be a really good thing. They are having a grand opening, June 11th. One of our local weather men, James Brown, is going to be catering the event with the best dang crawfish in these parts. Fun will be had by all. Really looking forward to your input. Haven't been getting too much lately, so lets here ya. Have a blessed day :)

My Crowning Glory !

Started with the basic shape on some vintage paper and added small gold trim. Mounted the paper on black card stock for weight.

Added some glittery fleur de les and vintage gold trim. Stenciled a fleur de le at the point.

I can't get enough burlap roses lately. Made a small one for her.

A vintage button with a rhinestone for the center. Adding some sea shells from our near by Crystal Beach. And sand too.

A close up of the point. And yes, that is a real star fish.

And there she is. A crown fit for a queen. I had a blast creating this beauty. Please let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you had a great day.

I have been a very sad puppy.

I don't have much time this morning, but I wanted to stop in a make a quick post. I have been a very sad puppy for the last few days. Locked out of my blog!! It seems that Blogger still has some issues and I was not able to post or comment. VERY frustrating! I have much to get done today and very little time to do it. So I'll have to catch up with you tonight. Missed you all. Have a great day

This would be me

I was having to sit in the hot car, waiting on a contractor to show up for a job and was playing around with my new phone. This is what I came up with. This is who is behind the Shabby Texas Cowgirl. This is about as gussied up as I get. Still had on my jeans and cowboy boots, of course.

My latest Thrift Store finds

These are my latest goodies from our local Goodwill store. The crystal candles holders were $1.99 for the pair. The crystal bottle was 2.99.

Several drops of E600 glue and I have an addition to my apothecary jar collection. More vintage buttons to separate.

The larger one in the foreground was made last week. Dollar store finds. Total cost for that one was $2.19! Don't you just love a bargain. Thanks again for stopping by. I just love hearing from you.

A little drawer organizing

Well, I was finally tired of digging thru my drawers to find some little thing I needed. So I took the time to empty them, wow did I find some good stuff, and organize them. I'm all about reuse, re-purpose and recycle. So off to the cupboards I went. Awe yes, mini muffin tins.

I also had a extra flatware kitchen organizer, from our old house. I had a lot more drawers there. It's just perfect for office supplies.

And believe me, all these little muffin tin holes will be full in the next few days with goodies. Well I'm off here and back to work. Let me know what you think. I really look forward to hearing your comments. Thanks again for stopping by.
